Follow these simple tips for the best care and maintenance of your extensions.
Brush the Mane
Thoroughly brush your mane twice a day. Making sure to remove any and all tangles from the hair. We recommend once in the morning when you wake up and then again before bed. The brand Wet Brush, has great brushes for detangling. (Mark-Wayne loves the Pro series from them) When brushing always embrace the extensions at the attachment zone and work in sections.
Moisture is everything
Moisturizing styling products are an essential part to keeping your textured mane looking soft and supple. Detangling spray, curl creams, waving lotions, oils, and masks are great styling products. We recommend only using professional products for Moisture on the mid lengths and ends of the hair. Daily styling and care is required to maintain a luscious mane of hair. The following ingredients can contribute to extensions drying out and becoming brittle: protein based products, Phthalates, gluten, parabens, sulfates, and antimicrobial agents.
Satin or Silk, Pick one
Sleep on a satin or silk pillow case. Cotton absorbs moisture out of your hair. So as you sleep and toss and turn your extensions tingle and lose moisture when you sleep on a cot and pillow case. Switching out to Sabin her cell cuts down on the friction and allows for moisture to remain in your mane. It's also great for clients with sensitive fragile hair or want to extend the life of their blow dry.
Tie it down
Before you go to bed, secure your hair in a ponytail or braid(s). This prevents tangling, matting, and dreading of the hair. When you sleep you toss and turn. Tying your hair back before bed prevents you from pulling out any extensions and prevents the hair from matting.
Heat Styling
If you use heat on the hair always use a heat protectant and low heat. Remember heat dries out the hair so treat your mane with care and moisture. We suggest a separate set of hair for when you want to wear your hair straight and when you want texture and curls. You’ll have better longevity of your manes.
Never Ever...!
Never ever go to bed with wet hair! Going to bed with wet hair causes many issues such as severe tangling, matting, drying out of extensions and that's just some of the problems it causes. Just don’t do it!
